Archie – Supermoto Rider

My name is Archie Ormrod, I am aged fourteen and live in Burscough, Lancashire.

At 4 years old, on Christmas Day, I got my first motorbike, a little Yamaha PW50. Ever since that day, I have been totally hooked on Motorbikes.

Soon after, my dad upgraded the bike to a KTM 50, and I entered my first race. From then on, racing has become a way of life for me. Almost every weekend we would be at a different track, travelling all over the country to race or practice.
By 8 years old I had progressed to being a front runner in most races and took many wins. In 2018, I was crowned Auto Champion with Cheshire Northwest MX Club and runner up in Newton le Willows MXC.

In 2023 I was ready for a change in direction in my racing and made the shift from motocross to Supermoto, racing in the British Supermoto championship. This uses a similar bike to motocross, but is predominantly tarmac based, with some dirt/offroad sections included.  I clicked with this new style quickly and it was not long before I was competing for podium positions. I loved the challenge of racing on varied surfaces and grip levels.

A solid second half of the season saw me taking multiple wins which was enough for me to win the 2023 British Supermoto Academy championship. This is without a doubt my proudest achievement in my racing career. In October of 2023 I had my first international race. Competing in the Superbiker event in Mettet, Belgium. This is the pinnacle of supermoto riding in Europe and is attended by many of the top riders from each country, such as Marc-Reiner Schmidt and Davey Todd.

It is a street circuit like the Isle of Man with some off-road and jump sections. It was an amazing feeling, racing in front of such huge crowds and I was delighted with my eighth-place finish, competing against the best in Europe in only my first year.
2024 is going really well, where I am looking to defend my title as Academy champion, we have one round to go and I am currently leading the table by a mere two points, fingers crossed!

My plan for 2025 will be to change discipline again and move to a full road race bike. Hopefully, this will be at British Superbikes in the Kawasaki Superteen class, but we have a few details to iron out before then.

One thing for sure, is that wherever I am racing, I will always give it my heart and soul.
